The Brief

Amazon Book Depository wanted a campaign that celebrated books not just for their content, but for their beauty as objects. The brief was to create the visual elements for a Beautiful Books campaign that invited readers to discover titles they might otherwise overlook.

The Concept

The central idea was a direct play on "don't judge a book by its cover" — a sliding interface element on each book thumbnail that revealed the beauty inside the pages when hovered. This created an interactive, curiosity-driven experience that rewarded engagement.

I designed the UI elements, homepage banners and email campaign assets that brought this concept to life across the Book Depository platform. The work required balancing a strong visual concept with the practical constraints of a major e-commerce environment — fast-loading, accessible, and consistent across devices.

The Result

A cohesive campaign that worked across homepage banners, email newsletters and book-listing pages — turning a standard promotional mechanic into something that genuinely surprised and delighted users.
